Night is challenging (definitely for games, but even for CG feature animation) due to the extreme dynamic range and large number of lights. Tokyo, with its massive quantities of illuminated billboards and neon signs, is one of the most famous and extreme examples of this type of lighting situation. This talk covers the techniques used by Pixar Animation Studios to light a stylized version of nighttime Tokyo for the movie Cars 2 – note that the speaker will also present a Studio Talk on a similar topic.“Megamind” – Lighting Metro City at Night – this task covers a similar challenge as the previous one, but with a distinct set of solutions from a different company (DreamWorks Animation) for a different film (Megamind).

Deferred Shading Techniques Using Frostbite in Need for Speed The Run – this talk will cover the tile-based deferred lighting architecture used in the Frostbite 2 engine, with emphasis on the PS3 implementation as used in the Electronic Arts game Need for Speed The Run (the talk was originally intended to cover the XBox 360 and Battlefield 3 as well, but has been refocused – the removed material will be covered in more depth in this course). It makes for an interesting combination with the previous two talks since it will show how the current state-of-the-art in game technology solves a similar problem as film (albeit at smaller scale) in real time. The three CG feature animation talks in this session cover fur and feather techniques which are too computationally costly to be feasible for most real-time applications today. They also don’t seem amenable to “animation baking” precomputation approaches since the resulting data would most likely be too heavy. However, these techniques should be able to run in real-time on future hardware platforms, making these talks of interest to forward-looking real-time researchers:Quill: Birds of a Feather Tool – this talk describes a specialized pipeline developed by Animal Logic to procedurally model, animate and simulate feathers while avoiding intersections and rendering at various levels of detail.

8 GB Available Hard Drive Space Kano from Tesco Direct When Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 came out, I felt like gaming had peaked. In my mind it was close to being the perfect video game, and the reason was simple – the manual. With that deft design decision, levels were no longer a series of single trick opportunities, but one connected canvas with any number of creative trick lines to discover. If you successfully combine four or more of the same colour they are vaporised which can sometimes, if another marble of a different colour is nearby, cause it to launch into a sort of shooting star or fireball. This, in turn, can be directed into more clusters of the same colour and, if your reactions are good enough, start a chain reaction which can sometimes clear the entire cube. Multiplayer Swan Diver III (Bronze) Luke Karmali 4 WHAT’S HOT? The summer is here, and that means you’ll be spending plenty of time with your kids outside, playing in the pool, swimming at the beach, and playing all of the backyard games you can handle. While that sounds like a lot of fun, it also sounds exhausting. Keeping your kids busy while you’re trying to get stuff done around the house can be tough, but one great way to do so is with video games. No, I’m not saying you should plop your kid in front of whatever the latest Call of Duty game is and let them pretend to shoot people while he/she gets yelled at by some stranger who is calling them a noob on Xbox Live. Instead, there are plenty of great video games for kids to play that don’t promote violence. Below, you’ll find a list of the best video games for kids that are both fun and contain content that’s appropriate for all ages. Whether they’re a Nintendo 3DS, Xbox One, PS4, or Nintendo Switch owner, there are plenty of great new kid-friendly games available:Denying the cuteness of Yoshi’s Woolly World would be impossible. Never before have we seen Yoshi look so darn cute! And what’s more, the gameplay caters to both the younger crowd and those who frequently play video games. For the younger crowd, they can simply try and make it through each level — and it’s likely they will, as it isn’t a difficult game. In fact, the game uses Poochy Pups as little helpers that jump on spots that will indicate where players should look. But for the older crowd, there are tons of secrets and collectibles to be found in each level, adding another level of gameplay. It’s basically the same version that was on the Wii U, just ported to 3DS. So if he/she has already played the Wii U version, skip the 3DS version. However, if they haven’t yet played it, the 3DS version is a great on-the-go game — essential for those long car trips you’ll take this summer. Ubisoft’s yearly dance-a-thon game strikes again with Just Dance 2017, a brilliantly-designed dancing game that’s intended to get your kids (and some grown-ups) dancing. The game is filled with great songs found all over the radio waves that your kids will know and love dancing to. The game will score them on their dancing, and there are three different skill modes available. So, as they become better dancers and learn the moves, the game’s difficulty can change with them. Some of the songs included are ‘Let Me Love Love You’ by Beiber, ‘Into You’ by Ariana Grande, and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ by The Weeknd. The game is rated E for everyone, and all songs are censored. Of course, building with LEGOs isn’t anything new, but it still remains just as fun now as it was when you were a kid. Except, now, there are thousands of different types and colors of LEGOs available. Collecting all of those would be quite expensive, but that doesn’t mean you can’t build with most of them, anyway! Enter LEGO Worlds, which is, in my opinion, the best LEGO video game yet. In LEGO Worlds, players are set in numerous open worlds (and they can travel from world to world) in a massive LEGO playland, with each world having a different ecosystem and tools available for you to build with. You can quest, or you can simply build your own worlds from scratch using the tools provided. The game contains various building tools, LEGOs, playsets, and colors that will bring your child’s imagination into virtual life. Think Minecraft, but with LEGOs and more building options. While the main baseball game contained in MLB The Show 17 is likely too advanced for the younger crowd, this year’s PlayStation 4 exclusive comes with a brand new Arcade mode that strips things down to the most easily digestible parts. This Arcade mode plays like an old RBI Baseball or Triple Play baseball game, where you get a sort of top-down view of the entire field. It’s both competitive and fun, which are two important components in creating video game appeal. It’s much easier to play than the actual game, making it one of the best games for kids of all ages. If you remember the days of Banjo-Kazooie fondly, this generation’s BK is a new game titled Yooka-Laylee. This game is PERFECT for kids. Not only is it set in an open world that’s large but not too large, it’s also easy and fun to play. On top of that, it’s presented with a colorful palette kids will especially enjoy. Yooka is a lizard and Laylee is his bat friend, and together, they’ll team up to take on some platforming challenges, collect-a-thons, and more great fun. This isn’t the Tetris game you remember — that’s for sure. But, Puyo Puyo Tetris is a great game, especially for Nintendo Switch owners. It’s a more arcadey version of Tetris, and it can be played with up to 4 players. It combines classic Tetris gameplay with SEGA’s Puyo Puyo to create an incredibly fun, face-pasted competitive game your kids will love. Not only can you play competitive Tetris and competitive Puyo Puyo, but you’re also able to play them both together in unique ways, thanks to the game’s unique fusion of the two in certain modes. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best version of Mario Kart available. It comes loaded with new and returning courses, a revised Battle Mode, and it’s presented in full 1080p HD. It looks and sounds great, and the colorful displays will certainly be appreciated by your kids. What’s more, there’s an ‘easy mode’ of sorts that basically puts the player on rails, meaning turns and twists aren’t as difficult. It’s a great way to play with kids, and even my four year old is able to play — and LOVES it (seriously, she’s now addicted. Send help!!).Portal Knights is another multiplatform game that’s great for kids to play, although it’s more appropriate for ages 7 and up, as it does take a little bit of understanding to play. In Portal Knights, players are able to create cutesy and simplistic characters (mage, warrior, or ranger) to adventure with. In their adventures, they’ll traverse different mini-worlds to discover portals to worlds with other resources they’ll use to make better armor, weapons, and stuff to build with. It’s basically like Minecraft but with better structure and a better presentation. How about some high octane racing fun that is simple and fun? Check out the Wipeout Omega Collection on PS4. It is a sort of spaceship/pod racing game th
