This is only good if you want the box version, which is exactly the same but is on a CD and a free download This review is not going to be filled with technical jargon about file ratios or 3d editing.

It’s going to be about my experience using this program over four years now. I have been reviewing Nintendo games for almost 10 years. It crashed all the time, but it was simple and it fulfilled my needs plus it was free!

I had no choice but to go to a paid video editor. I tried them all. In the end I stuck with PowerDirector because it was the easiest to understand, and it mostly worked.

That was PowerDirector I usually update every 2 years. I kinda had to when Windows 10 came around, because it became it crashed all the time without the upgrade.

Once I went to 14 it worked perfectly. Now I am upgrading to I figured I would just talk about what I like and don’t like about the program. Starting with 12 all the way to 16 I havn’t noticed a huge difference between the three versions I have used other then it crashing all the time with W10 The design is the same, and that’s both a good thing.

It’s easy to understand. You see the files your working with and it’s as easy as dragging them into the timeline. Detecting scenes still limits you to scenes in a project which for me when editing video game footage can be a problem.

To normal people this isn’t even slightly a problem. Also I wish the broken down scenes said how much time it was on it. You can hover your cursor around it to see the time, but it would be faster to see it on screen.

I would also love a green check mark by each scene used. You have to go off memory if you have used that scene or not. All of these things are just little annoyances.

There are advanced features like green screen, and motion animation. For the life of me I can’t understand how to get motion animation to work. There are a couple Youtube videos on it, but it never would work like I wanted it to.

However, I am going to put this under it’s my fault. I wish Udemy or the other teaching sites out there had a class in Powerdirector. Right now it’s just one guy, and his class is pretty basic.

If you know Movie Maker you really don’t need his class. They are free on their website. They are easy to download it is basically installs it for you. I like this program.

It’s fast when it’s making the movie for you. Only rarely do the videos screw up. If you are looking for a good stable video editing program this one is pretty great! It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the thousand dollar editors out there but you will be surprised how well it works with what you might want to do.
